Frequently Asked Questions
Why didn't my alarm go off? +
Make sure the alarm is set to ON in the app. Also check that notifications are enabled for Sunrise Alarm in iPhone Settings → Notifications. If your phone was on Do Not Disturb or had very low battery, this can also prevent the alarm from sounding.
Does the alarm work when my phone is on silent? +
Yes! Sunrise Alarm is designed to play sound even when your iPhone ringer is set to silent. This is enabled using iOS audio settings that bypass the silent switch. However, if your volume is turned all the way down, the alarm may be very quiet.
Does the alarm work when the app is closed? +
The alarm notification will appear even when the app is closed. However, the alarm sound and snooze features work best when the app is running in the background. For the full experience, we recommend keeping the app active in the background.
Do I need to set the alarm every day? +
No! Set it once and it automatically reschedules every morning after you dismiss the alarm. The sunrise time updates daily based on your location. You only need to turn it off manually if you don't want to wake up at sunrise.
How accurate is the sunrise time? +
Very accurate! We use Open-Meteo, a professional weather API, to calculate sunrise times based on your exact GPS coordinates. The sunrise time is typically accurate within 1-2 minutes.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Go to iPhone Settings → tap your Apple ID at the top → Subscriptions → find Sunrise Alarm → Cancel Subscription. You can cancel anytime and retain access until the end of your billing period. For refunds, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
What is Gradual Wake mode? +
When Gradual Wake is enabled, the alarm starts at a very low volume and slowly increases to full volume over 60 seconds. This creates a gentler, more natural wake-up experience. You can toggle this on or off from the main screen.
How many times can I snooze? +
You can snooze up to 3 times, with 5 minutes between each snooze. After the 3rd snooze, the dismiss option remains but snoozing is disabled to encourage you to actually wake up!
Does the app use a lot of battery? +
No. Sunrise Alarm uses minimal battery. The app only actively uses GPS when you first open it or when rescheduling the alarm after dismissal. The rest of the time it is completely inactive.
Is my location data safe? +
Yes. Your location is only used to calculate the sunrise time and is never stored on our servers. It is sent directly to the Open-Meteo API for sunrise calculation only. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
